With A Side Of Thriftiness

The Life of a HouseWife… with a side of Thriftiness!

Deals, Deals and MORE Deals!

I hope you had the chance to go shopping this week.  Several stores had terrific sales.  Even though today is Friday and the sales have been running all week, I wanted to make sure you could still score some super steals… you still have time!

Here are the savings that caught my eye this week:

IGA – (Check with your local IGA to see if they have the same items on sale.)

  • Iceburg Lettuce – $0.99/head
  • Large Eggs (IGA) – $0.99/dz
  • Dole Bananas – $.044/lb
  • Beef Broth or Chicken Broth (IGA) – $0.69/can – 14 to 14.5oz
  • Bob Evans Sausage Links or Patties – $2.50

IGA dbls Qs up to $0.99 and these sales are good thru Sunday, 3/4!

WOW!  Click the on “walgreens” above to go to their weekly ad.  This ad is only good thru tomorrow 3/3, but they have LOTS of Register Rewards (RR) Available!  RRs are printed out after your purchase on the items that earned them.  Split up your purchases into several transactions to “roll” your RRs!  In transaction #1, buy the product that will earn you the most RRs. Use those RRs to purchase the items in your next transaction. Keep the RRs rolling!   Purchase the products that will NOT give you a RR in your last transaction.  This takes some planning and organizing, but your pocket will thank you!  Here’s my plan:

  1. Buy BioScience EternalBlu (60ct) for $10 OOP (out of pocket) and earn $10 in RRs.
  2. Use the $10 RRs to purchase Ulitmate Flora (30ct). It costs $10 but with your RRs it will be free and also give you $10 more RRs!
  3. Use the $10 RRs from last transaction to buy Burts Bees Throat Drops (21ct) @ $1.99 & On the go Orange (30pk) $8.  This will be ZERO OOP and you’ll earn another $10 in RRs.
  4. Use the $10 RRs from transaction 3 to by Natrol Melatonin (100ct) @ $4, Super Poligrip (0.75oz) @ $1.99 & Walgreens 5-Blade Men’s Razor @ $3.99.  This transaction will cost you nothing and you’ll earn $9 in RRs.
  5. Take the $9 RRs to buy 3 Clorox Wipes containers (35ct) @ $9.  Pay nothing and earn another  $2.50 in RR.
  6. LAST TRANSACTION:  Take the $2.50 in RRs and get FREE MILK!  Walgreens have their Milk on sale for $2.39!  You’ll actually have $0.11 to spare!  (If you don’t want to let the $0.11 go to waste, use their in-ad coupon to get a roll of Tuf Paper Towels for $0.69.  If you do this, your OOP cost will be $0.58!)

TOTAL OOP:  $10!!  If you have previous RRs, use them for your first transaction to save even more.  I unfortunately do not have any RRs, I hope that you do!  There are several possibilities will all the RRS that Walgreens is offering this week.  Browse the ad and create your own shopping plan!  You still have tonight and tomorrow to take advantage of the deals 🙂  Valid thru 3/3 ONLY!

Rite Aid

You don’t have to browse too far into the Rite Aid (click above on “Rite Aid”) to find savings.  Their entire first page is nothing but B1G1 items!  Take a look and see what you can save!  The best deal that I found was for Pantene Shampoo and Conditioners.  You can get 2 Bottles for $7 and earn $2.00 in UP+ Rewards (just like Walgreen’s RRs) and there was a Q in this past week’s SS coupon insert for $3/2!  This deal will make 2 Bottles of Pantene for $2 🙂

Note: You MUST have a RiteAid Wellness Card to get these deals. Prices valid thru TOMORROW 3/3!

  • Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relieve $.24!  On sale for $4.99, get $4 back in Extra Care Bucks (ECBS, which are just like RRs) and use the $0.75 Q!  OOP will be $4.24, but you’ll receive $4 on your next purchase!
  • Schick Hydro 5 Power Select on sale for $9.99. Use the $4 manufacture Q and get back $4 in ECBS too!  Final cost will be $1.99. (Out of pocket will be $5.99 and you’ll have $4 for your next purchase.  Buy this in your second transaction and use the $4 from the Colgate and you will only have $1.99 OOP!).
  • ThermaCare (1ct) on sale for $3.79 and earn $3.79 ECB!

Make sure you have your CVS ExtraCare Card with you to get these deals, if you don’t have one… the cashier will gladly get you registered for one!  Also, before shopping, visit CVS’ Red Kiosk and scan your Extra Care Card.  Many times you’ll get coupons printed out at the Kiosk for in-store deals.  And, don’t scan it jsut once, keep scanning it until it reads NO COUPONS AVAILABLE!  <– Today’s TIP!
